I’ve spent the last two weeks playing with the REALLY GOOD™ skin care range from Skindressing.com and it’s so good I want to kiss it. Is that weird? Probably, but it’s also testament to a brand that clearly understands the magical properties of plants and how they should be part of any beauty formulation.
This REALLY GOOD™ skin care review will tell you everything you need to know about this luxury, organic skin care range from SoCal.
Oil v.s. Cream
There are two things that make REALLY GOOD™ different. One is that the products are oil-based. Jaya, Skindressing.com founding partner, explains she began her REALLY GOOD™ journey after becoming fed up with toxic ingredients in skin care:
I was an avid lover of lotions and creams, until I paid close attention to their ingredients and wouldn’t even consider trying a butter or oil because I didn’t like the possibility of looking greasy.
Out of duress, she began experimenting with a variety of plant oils, such as jojoba, argan and coconut, but soon it was clear that just oils weren’t enough. Not long after, with the creation of Skindressing’s signature Ultimate Skin Butter, Jaya discovered that the combination of plant wax, vegetable glycerine, vegan hyaluronic acid and exotic plant essences was the vital difference her skin had been missing.
Compliments followed and REALLY GOOD™ was born.
According to Jaya, it’s important that:
[T]he application of each product be understood for those not accustomed to using oils and serums instead of lotions and creams. You get the maximum benefits from the active ingredients this way because they haven’t been overly heated, processed or spent time languishing on a shelf (like most lotions and creams) and without anything harmful being added.
Judging by the detailed instructions that arrived with my products, I agree, Skindressing want you to get the most out of their luxury organic skin care range.
The REALLY GOOD™ Secret Ingredient
The other key difference that makes REALLY GOOD™ stand out is that they formulate with an ingredient that most mainstream brands overlook – LOVE. How do I know this? Because my skin feels loved and so do my senses.
Every time I use REALLY GOOD™ I get the urge to whisper “Namaste”.
It could be the lotus essence in the Skin Refresher, but I feel like I’ve been on retreat for two weeks instead of dousing myself in Ultimate Skin Butter and staring in the mirror, amazed that an oil-based product hasn’t made my forehead shine like a diamond.
As with any skin care regime, for best results I recommend using these products as a set. I’ve been sampling five products from the REALLY GOOD™ range for a four step organic skin care regime as follows:
1. REALLY GOOD™ Face Soap
With key ingredients of vitamin E and tea tree REALLY GOOD™ Face Soap is both cleansing and hydrating. It lathers better than most natural cleansers I’ve tried and cleans skin without drying it out.
It also has a warm fragrance that reminds me of chai tea and I literally want to eat it every time I’m in the shower! Plus, the gold nugget packaging sent me over the moon. I mean c’mon, who doesn’t want to receive a gold nugget in the mail?
2. REALLY GOOD™ Skin Refresher
For those who haven’t experienced a toner spray, you’re in for a treat because it’s so refreshing. This is owing to the alcohol-free, skin firming witch hazel formulation that includes essences of rose, lotus, passion-flower and tropical hibiscus.
After cleansing with the Face Soap and patting dry, use 1-3 pumps of Skin Refresher, aiming top to bottom from forehead down to the chin in a vertical line, then patting gently to cover all areas and smooth any extra product on the neck and decollete. Once applied, don’t wait for it to dry, your skin will absorb the next product (Skin Serum) more easily if it’s left slightly damp.
3. REALLY GOOD™ Skin Serum
I love using this serum prior to one of the REALLY GOOD™ skin butters, but it can also be used on its own. In fact, it’s perfect pre-workout, since it is light as a feather and absorbs quickly.
You only need one pump for face and neck or one pump per body part i.e. leg, arm or torso. For maximum hydration always follow with a REALLY GOOD™ skin butter.
4. REALLY GOOD™ Ultimate Rose Butter
According to Skindressing.com:
It takes TWENTY DOZEN organic roses to distil enough oil for just one jar!
That’s a lot of roses and a lot of skin benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and scar reduction to name a few. Plus, essential rose oil has the power to create a sense of balance and harmony and lightness of spirit. No wonder I feel really good since using REALLY GOOD™ products!
Aside from the scientific benefits of rose, the Ultimate Rose Butter has a mild, yet pleasant aroma and smooth texture. I’d recommend this butter as a cream alternative for dry, sensitive and/or combination skin. I’m naturally oily, but it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. It feels light, but intensely hydrating at the same time. I think it’s magical and, judging by the sheer concentration of roses used to make this butter, it actually might be.
5. REALLY GOOD™ Ultimate Skin Butter
These products get better the more I learn about them and the Ultimate Skin Butter is no exception. It contains organic argan oil, which is like the super food of skin care ingredients because of it’s richness in vitamin E, omega fatty acids and anti-oxidants.
This butter is great for sensitive skin, but any skin type would benefit, whether you use it for body or face, it’s über-nourishing and smells divine.
Should you try the REALLY GOOD™ organic skin care range?
It’s hard to find skin care that ticks all the ethical, results-driven, sensory, budget and branding boxes, but I think REALLY GOOD™ does. One of the keys to finding the right organic skin care is to try, try and try until you find something that works for you. If you like this organic skin care review then I would strongly recommend trying REALLY GOOD™.
What have you got to lose? In my opinion, certainly not good skin or even a lot of money.
These products are reasonably priced. As they state on their website:
At last, truly healthy skin care doesn’t have to be ineffective or overpriced, and that’s REALLY GOOD™!”
I couldn’t agree more.
Do they deliver to Australia?
It’s vegan and cruelty-free, but is REALLY GOOD™ gluten-free?
Jaya was so accommodating when I queried her as to whether the REALLY GOOD™ range is gluten-free. As someone with Celiac Disease, it’s important to me, even though I know it’s not possible to absorb gluten through the skin. She had to make a lot of enquiries, but Jaya has confirmed that the entire REALLY GOOD™ organic skin care range is gluten-free! Hurrah!
