You can get glowing skin fast.
Using high-performing skin care and illuminating makeup, glowing skin can be yours overnight. Have a big event or a special date you want to impress? Use these quick skin care techniques and makeup tricks to create glowing skin in less than 24 hours.
1. Use a skin brightening mask
You’ll be amazed at how quickly your skin can respond when you use the right products. It’s possible to get visible results right away. Prepping skin overnight can help create the smooth, hydrated canvas you need to create a glowing makeup the next day. This is a technique I use the night before I post a beauty look and it works!
This is my favourite brightening mask.
If you follow my blog, you know I rave about it a lot! That’s because pineapple and papaya enzymes deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin and the result is like a natural peel. This is my top choice because the results the next morning are insane. It reveals a new layer of skin, giving you a youthful glow I doubt you’ll experience with another product.
How to use –
- Cleanse skin, pat dry and apply the mask liberally like a paste. (Avoid your eye and lip area because they’re too sensitive for this mask.)
- Leave on no longer than 5 minutes.
- Use a soft cloth and tepid water to gently rinse off, then pat dry with a clean towel.
- Apply a rich, non-toxic night cream, I recommend this one.
Only apply this mask at night because it can make you sun sensitive and wear a day cream with SPF the next day.
2. Cleanse, tone and moisturize
Your skin care routine is the most important step in getting radiant, glowing skin fast. It also preps the skin for makeup to give it luminosity under your foundation. If you’re over 25, opt for an anti-ageing skin care line with 6 steps. If you’re under 25, use a skin care line with at least 4 steps. This’ll help slow ageing and keep your skin healthy.
Layering your skin care provides maximum hydration. When your skin is hydrated what does it do? It glows. Not only will your skin look more radiant, but your makeup will stay on longer too. Makeup adheres better to hydrated skin and that’s why makeup artists always apply day cream before priming.
3. Use a primer with skin brightening properties
Primer can serve more than one purpose. It helps makeup last longer, but if it has the right ingredients it can also hydrate and brighten your skin.
My favourite primer lately is the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener because it benefits your skin while adding dewiness to your makeup looks. It’s heaven! With key ingredients of apple extract, grapefruit extract, aloe leaf juice and green and white tea extracts to smooth, increase radiance, calm and de-age the skin, you can’t go wrong.
4. Apply a light-reflecting foundation
If you give your skin all these brightening benefits and then add a matte foundation, guess what’ll happen? All that glow will go out the window, Girl! So use a foundation or BB Cream that perfects impurities while enhancing the dewy look of your skin.
Opt for light to full coverage cream or liquid, but apply sparingly because the more makeup you wear, the more it’ll dull your natural skin radiance. Once you choose a foundation you like, use a buffing brush to buff it into the skin in circular, downward strokes.
Here are a couple I recommend –
Perfecting Liquid Foundation (I use Neutral Beige)
Au Naturale Organic Creme Foundation (I use Mallorca)
5. Bronze it up
Bronzed skin is synonymous with glowing skin. They generally go together because you get a healthy glow when you’ve been in the sun, right? But bronzer should only be applied to the points on your face where the sun would naturally kiss it, plus those areas you wish to reduce.
I apply bronzer to my hairline, my forehead, under my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Depending on your face shape, apply bronzer to those areas you wish to minimize and always under the cheekbones to make them seem higher. Bronzer should have warm undertones, but not look orange.

6. Highlight, highlight, highlight
This is possibly the most important step! Anyone can fake glowing skin by applying highlighter, women do it every day! Apply liberally to the tops of cheekbones and all the high points of the face, like the bridge of your nose and cupid’s bow.
Have fun with it, there aren’t any rules, just make sure you don’t end up looking oily. If you think you’ve overdone it in some areas, take your foundation brush and blend it out, everything’s fixable.
