If you’re feeling bloated after the holidays, you’re not alone and an easy detox can help.
Note: It shouldn’t be extreme or uncomfortable.
If you can’t comfortably do your work and daily activities while detoxing because of fatigue and other symptoms, then it’s too extreme and not worth the misery. Still, it’s a good idea to “clear the decks” and a new year is the perfect time!
So, here are 3 easy ways to detox that’ll help you feel back to your pre-Christmas pie self in no time:
Easy Detox Tip #1 – Drink Lemon Water
Especially first thing on an empty tummy because this’ll help flush your gut and gently cleanse your liver.
Try it warm in the morning because it’s gentler on the system, then switch to room temperature once you’ve had breakfast.
Try to drink at least a few glasses throughout the day and filtered water is best, preferably not from a plastic bottle.
Easy Detox Tip #2 – Drink Your Meals
To reset your system, all you need to do is give your digestion a break.
A yummy and nutritious way to do this, is to replace 1-2 of your main meals with whole food smoothies for a few days.
Include at least twenty grams of vegan protein, healthy fat, fibre, low GI carbs and greens to make it a complete meal.
If you feel hungry between smoothies, have a low sugar, protein-based snack to keep your blood sugars stable. This’ll still be gentle on your gut, but keep you feeling satisfied and your energy levels consistent.
Easy Detox Tip #3 – Take an Infrared Sauna
Not only is it so relaxing, but it’s great for detoxifying heavy metals and other toxins too!
Different to a steam sauna, which only heats your skin, an infrared sauna increases your core body temperature.
This allows you to sweat out toxins while helping your circulation and decreasing pain and inflammation. There are heaps of benefits and it only takes 20-40 minutes.
